Marketing leaders for a direct-to-consumer finance launch
The Savings Group was building a new direct-to-consumer finance product alongside the ones already carrying the business, against a deadline that would not move. Hitting it meant marketing hires who had taken a fintech product to a large user base before.

Why The Savings Group’s marketing hiring was hard
The Savings Group was building a new direct-to-consumer finance product alongside the products it already ran, against a fixed deadline. That is a specific and unforgiving hiring situation. The launch date did not move to accommodate the search, the existing products still needed the marketing function that was already running them, and the new product needed people who could take it to market from nothing.
Hiring against a launch deadline changes what a strong candidate looks like. Experience running a mature marketing function is not the same skill as standing one up beside it and shipping. A launch needs someone who has already been through the compressed version, who knows which decisions have to be made early because they cannot be unwound later, and who does not need months of context before producing anything. Those people exist. They are not the majority of any applicant pool, and a deadline leaves no room to discover that after the fact.
The searches OutScout ran
OutScout screened for fintech professionals with a proven record of launching new products to large user bases, and put that ahead of general marketing craft in the calibration. The distinction matters: launching a consumer finance product at scale is a different discipline from marketing one that already has users, and the second does not reliably predict the first. A Marketing Operations Manager and a Content Director came out of those searches, one owning the systems and measurement the launch would run on, the other owning the voice it would go to market in. Both searches ran in parallel with the product build, not after it.
Why launch-tested fintech marketers are scarce
Marketers who have carried a consumer finance product to a large user base are concentrated in a small number of companies, are usually mid-launch somewhere else, and are not reading job postings. The pool is small, mostly passive, and invisible to inbound, which is why a deadline-bound search has to be run outbound and screened on evidence of having done it before.
